On an iPad Pro this app is an absolute delight! Breathtaking beauty. I felt an almost referent sense of awe the first time I used it. Again, the cornerstone of this app is raw, passionate beauty. A modest zoom function brings out details if I want to go deeper. Also, the moon, stars and planets are moving in real time so I can watch an occultation if I want from the comfort of my bed. A lot of satellites and space junk is tracked and labeled, which can be a lot of fun. It will even alert me if the International Space Station is about to go overhead. (If I’ve chosen to use the alert functions) I’ve had so much fun with the basic version the past two years that I have not bothered to upgrade yet to full featured mega version. Best money I ever spent on an app.

This is one of the first apps I ever got when I got my first iPhone. The best way to put it is to say I was early on smitten with an unassailable, or at least treatment-resistant naivety about apps in general. It caused me to think that apps do what they say they will do and no more. An appropriate amount of cynicism has had to be rebuilt over time, brick by brick. I absolutely love this app-even for a person only moderate interest in astronomy, it is so well worth your time and money if you make any of the in app purchases. It has been so long, I don’t even remember what I got but after having it for only a day or two if it offered an ad free version for $.99 or something, I’m sure I did that. One unexpectedly cool thing about this particular app that makes it a great social tool or icebreaker: I can be standing in line outside waiting for a table, or to get into a movie, and have this app out, and pointed at the sky, and just say something like “have you ever seen this app?“. I don’t care who they are what they are, I don’t care if it’s a five-year-old kid or a 90-year-old grandpa , they can’t keep from looking, and as soon as they turn and look at your screen, I say “see, it moves when I move, and it shows you what you’re looking at… See? Like here’s the moon, and there is Jupiter…”… The reaction from that point on is always so entertaining… I’ve gotten everything from a youngster just taking the phone from me and circling around seeing what was there, to just standard “Wow, what is that?”, to “… That’s amazing, my father-in-law would absolutely love that, what’s the name of it? as they start poking at their own phone… How much was it?”. Using it is so intuitive, it’s barely worth mentioning… It’s like using your eyes… You just look, and it tells you what you’re looking at, and the more you center it in the screen, The more detailed information you get. If you turn to the south for example, it just turns with you; if you look straight up it looks straight up.. It even gives real time information like showing me where that comet is and where it is going. The graphics are beautiful, the images associated with the constellations are absolutely elegant, … It even plays soothing New Age style cords for you to listen to while you look… LOL… Have I said enough? Just get it, you won’t regret it and you will become instantly cool.LOL.

This app has surely been a pleasure to have, for it has features that are truly amazing, from the name of a star to the name of constellations, from the information of the Sun to information of far away celestial bodies. This app has made everyday star gazing a simple task; there are barely any flaws within the application. Please update regularly, so that the app can be so much better: I can’t find any common flaw, therefore I can’t help with making the app more satisfying. Thank you!
